Case study: Office clearance for leading UK insurance provider

Following the introduction of its hybrid working policy, the UK subsidiary of a European leader in insurance and reinsurance needed our support.

The client needed to remove its redundant furniture from the fourth floor of its office, and was keen to find a sustainable solution for its unwanted furniture, which was a key reason that it contacted BMG.

Pre-move planning

We met with the client team within 48 hours of being contacted to discuss the scope of work and carry out a site survey. We generated a SAP report which listed all 335 items of furniture and their condition, including photographs.

Second life solution

We have an extensive network of charity partners and second-hand furniture dealers throughout the UK who are always happy to receive unwanted furniture and other workplace items. We were delighted to find a new home for every single item of redundant furniture.

This was the best possible sustainable solution as it ensured that nothing went to landfill. We cleared out the fourth floor and delivered all items to our partners.

Our team based in Leeds had previously supported the client with its West Yorkshire office. We allocated some of the same service team members as they were familiar to the client and already had a good understanding of the building layout and workplace culture.

The result

We secured £1,800 from our furniture dealers for the insurance company, which reduced the total cost of the project.
