Business Moves Group (BMG) was appointed to deliver a comprehensive workplace clearance project for a global law firm’s Cardiff hub, in partnership with an interior design firm that was adapting the space for its needs.

We have collaborated with this partner on several successful projects across the Midlands and have a strong track record of supporting major law firms with workplace change projects, so we were well placed to deliver a seamless and professionally managed service.

A zero-disruption turnaround

The project required the full clearance of surplus furniture and equipment across three floors, including the ground floor, within a strict seven-day programme. The scope included supplying all labour, resources and equipment necessary to manage the project.

Given the busy nature of the firm’s daily operations, it was critical that the clearance caused minimal disruption. To achieve this, a significant portion of the project was delivered outside of normal working hours, with a dedicated team of ten operatives on site each day.

Prioritising the circular economy

Our priority for the furniture and equipment was reuse. Every item was assessed to determine whether it could be redeployed within the organisation. This approach supported sustainability objectives and delivered tangible financial benefit to the client:

  • Furniture successfully reused generated a rebate value of £16,000.
  • Where reuse was not possible, items were either sold or donated.
  • Any remaining materials were ethically recycled.

Across the seven-day project, over 30 tonnes of furniture and equipment were recycled, significantly reducing waste and supporting the client’s environmental commitments.

Delivering value

Through careful planning, strong on-site management and close collaboration with our partner, BMG delivered the clearance within the agreed timeframe and with zero disruption to the firm’s core business operations.

The result was a fast-turnaround clearance that balanced operational efficiency with environmental responsibility, maximising reuse and returning a measurable rebate to the client.
