Berkshire Music Trust (BMT) is a charity that offers music lessons, groups, ensembles, concerts and events for children, young people and adults. It’s based in Reading and has been providing musical opportunities in Berkshire for more than 40 years.

The Trust recently needed our support to move some musical instruments to two locations in time for the new school year. They contacted us through our website quote enquiry form and we immediately responded to discuss how we could provide our support.

Project scope

We had to relocate various instruments and musical equipment from St Bartholomew’s School in Newbury to Kennet School in Thatcham and BMT in Reading. Items included:

  • Xylophone
  • Marimba
  • Stands
  • Drums
  • Cabinet
  • Desk
  • Shelves
  • Other equipment in eight cages

Many of these items are fragile and expensive so it was imperative to ensure their safety during transit. We provided the necessary materials to protect the instruments and lined cages to keep them secure.

Making the move

We had three weeks from first being contacted until the desired move date. We engaged with the relevant teams at all three schools to ensure that someone would be present on the day and to confirm access routes.

Although we could have fit everything into one truck, we opted to carry out the move in two journeys to avoid stacking instruments on top of each other and risking damage.

The move went off without a hitch and the instruments are being put to good use!

Client feedback

“Everything went smoothly, and it was a very professional move. The BMG team was excellent in handling the instruments, going out of their way to take extra care of the equipment being moved.”
