Case study: Asset management with Wellington College

Business Moves Group (BMG) partnered with Wellington College in Crowthorne as part of a larger refurbishment project to help relocate and store equipment while the classrooms were remodelled and then deliver the equipment back to the college following the building works. Wellington College is a co-educational institution founded in 1853 and is driven by the need to prepare young people to shape the world of tomorrow.

Upgraded facilities

The school was turning its out-of-date Biology and Chemistry laboratories into new, state-of-the-art facilities for students to encourage and inspire learning. BMG provided and assisted with the equipment and packing materials needed for the labs’ equipment, including cages, crates, bubble bags and shrink wrap.

Before the packing commenced, a full inventory was created complete with images and item details, both for the use of the science department and for BMG to check and ensure all the correct items were packed away and returned at the project completion. A team of 57 BMG operatives were deployed across the various stages of the project. Once BMG had delivered the packing materials, the science department packed its specialist equipment with the appropriate methods ready for collection by the BMG team.

The equipment was then moved to a secured storage warehouse by the BMG team, where it was held as the refurbishment took place in the labs. The equipment was then delivered back to the college for the staff to unpack the items into the brand-new labs. BMG teams then returned at a later date to collect the empty packing materials to be reused or disposed of appropriately.

The project was a success with the new labs now up and running for students to use and learn in.
