BMG has worked with many businesses across a wide range of sectors, including a recent partnership with a leading cross-platform global games company that supplies content, hardware and systems that connect iconic titles across any place or channel.

Business Moves Group first partnered with the client in 2018 for the move and storage of its technical game units, including installation and set-up at its client sites. Since then, the partnership has developed over the five years, with BMG becoming its go-to technical service and moves partner.

Our projects

We have two active projects with the client, with gaming machines currently distributed from five of our depots around the country. When the business has new machines coming from its manufacturer, they are delivered directly to the relevant BMG depot depending on its destination, so our teams can carefully plan their onward journey and installation for their customers. Some items are held at BMG warehouses for short- and long-term storage, where expert teams ensure high standards of product handling, protection, and damage avoidance.

In 2023, we will have distributed 2,000 new machines between August and December to various locations and are currently undertaking an even bigger project involving moving and installing 2,800 machines taking place between October and December.

Technical elements

Each gaming machine weighs approximately 150-200 kilograms. Extreme care is paramount to handle them correctly while ensuring the health and safety of BMG teams. Specialist moving teams that are trained in technical distribution, heavy lifting, and the use of stair walker equipment are deployed for these moves. Teams are also cleared on health and safety grounds to perform the physical elements of the move to ensure a successful delivery.

Planning for the delivery and installation of the machines requires a dedicated crew and upwards of five days of work. Delivery locations are usually busy high streets or shopping centres, meaning access requirements must be agreed prior to the delivery date. These locations also see various levels of public footfall, so delivery crews must always be aware of the people around them and are trained in understanding the health and safety risks of undertaking a moving project around the public. BMG also commanded a specialist fleet of vehicles for the project including 3.5 to 18-tonne lorries that were used to transport the heavy equipment across the country to different customers.

Finishing touches

Our work is not complete once the items are delivered to their new sites. The team will proceed to install the new machines, ensure they are set up and connected to the relevant networks, complete green button tests to confirm they are running as expected, and demonstrate to the shop staff the actions required for the machine’s upkeep. Then, all loose packaging is taken away, completing the relocation and installation.
